One evening, 6-year-old Oliver Henry asked his dad, a marketing executive, for permission to go out and play. "No, it's too close to bedtime," said his father, Gordon. Not liking that answer, Oliver next asked his mom, Philadelphia attorney Deborah Epstein Henry (who, as founder and president of Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, was featured in our September 2004 "The Ultimate Guide to Flexibility").

Not knowing that her husband had already ruled on the question, Deborah gave Oliver, the oldest of their three boys, the green light. So when her husband looked out the window and saw Oliver playing outside, he was mystified-and a little miffed. "How come you're out playing when I told you no?" he asked his son. "Because Mom said yes, and she's the lawyer!" came Oliver's quick reply.
