Cambridge University's Palestine Society and the Cambridge University Islamic Society's Human Rights Committee held a "Palestine Awareness Day" at their university on Feb. 19. The mixture of talks, documentaries and workshops drew more than 100 people over the course of the day.

Headlining the day's activities was Dr. Uri Davis, the Israeli author of Apartheid Israel, who has worked for many decades to expose the truth about Zionism and its impact on the indigenous Palestinians. He spoke on the theme of Israeli apartheid at St. Catherine's College, before answering the audience's questions and signing copies of his book.

The day also included an introductory history lecture on Palestine/Israel delivered by Cambridge-based professor and author Glen Rangwala. In the afternoon, activists from the London-based Palestine Solidarity Campaign and War on Want led informal workshops on the whys and hows of campaigning. Specific attention was drawn to individual economic boycotts, national-level sanctions, and the current protests against Caterpillar, supplier of equipment that the Israeli military uses in home demolitions. …
