Peter Jones, the CIPFA programme leader at Liverpool John Moores University, died on March 22, aged 52.

Colleagues at JMU, fellow CIPFA members and students will share our sense of loss.

Peter obtained his CIPFA qualification in 1986. After graduating from the London School of Economics, he worked for Abbey National, the National Audit Office, the Audit Commission, CIPFA Educations Training Centre, and Northavon District Council (as head of internal audit).

He joined JMU as a senior lecturer in 1999, bringing with him a wealth of accumulated expertise in the auditing field.

He had already developed a research interest in auditing and fraud, and continued to publish books in these areas, notably PuMc sector auditing, Statistical sampling and risk analysis in auditing and Combating fraud and corruption in public services. …
