IGI, AMO, Is A-OK

In January, the Institute approved its first AMO Firm in Puerto Rico, Interservice Group, Inc. (IGI), led by executive CPM Fernando Marquez. Incorporated in 1981 by a group of real estate professionals with Marquez at the helm, IGI manages an investment real estate portfolio valued at $225 million.

"The time was right for the firm to earn its designation," Marquez said. "It had all the requirements and the competition from other firms was getting tough."

The firm formally announced its new designation at a January luncheon attended by clients, bank representatives and IREM Region 4 Vice President Jay Windsor, CPM.

Marquez, the firm's CEO, said he hopes the new designation will give IGI an edge in the local market and show prospective tenants it is serious about property management.

"There is a need for real management expertise in commercial property management in Puerto Rico," Marquez said. "As a CPM Member, I've seen firsthand the value an IREM designation can mean. Hopefully the new designation will translate to further success for IGI. …
