The Housing Corporation has placed a failing housing group and association on alert that it could intervene after a damning Audit Commission report.

South London Family Housing Association was given a zero star rating by commission inspectors, who claimed customer satisfaction was 'below average', record-keeping was 'inconsistent' and letting policies were 'not demonstrably fair'. They also said there were 'uncertain prospects for improvement'.

'Although there is clear leadership focus on customer services and residents are involved in stock investment plans, there is a significant number of weaknesses that far outweigh the strengths,' said commission senior manager Hugh Boatswain.

Following the report, the Housing Corporation announced that it was placing the Horizon housing group and the SLFHA, which is a subsidiary, under 'intervention level supervision'. …
