SIRSI Unveils System Implementations

SIRSI Corp. has announced that the Mississippi Library Commission (MLC), the state library agency that provides information services and resources to public libraries throughout Mississippi, has selected SIRSI's Unicorn Library Management System and iBistro Electronic Library to provide an integrated, easy-to-use system for its resource library. SIRSI has also reported that LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network has selected LINK, SIRSI's new system for academic libraries.


MLC becomes the seventh state library agency to install a Unicorn system. According to Justin Duncan, system administrator, Unicorn and iBistro will provide MLC resource library staff with powerful technology and timesaving search features.

In addition to administering a variety of technical and support services, MLC offers materials and reference assistance to state employees, government officials, and libraries through its resource library. Duncan said, "SIRSI's iBistro will enable our reference librarians to conduct simultaneous searches of our holdings and of Z39.50 databases.

"We went through the formal proposal process during our search for a library system and looked at several systems. We decided that Unicorn will provide the technology to meet our needs for the best price, and iBistro will increase the horsepower of our reference librarians' searches," Duncan said. …
