New PCS links

Pharmacy benefit manager PCS Health Systems has entered agreements with Systems Plus, Mountain View, Calif., and Personalized Programming, Alachua, Fla., to market PCS' physician communications software, PCS Link. The software gives physicians on-line access to their patients' drug histories, including information on whether patients have complied with their prescribed drug therapy. PCS said it now has electronic linkages to more than 30,000 physicians.

The Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association's EDI-USA company has chosen claims processor National Data Corp. to set up interactive communications capabilities among independent BC&BS plans, their providers, and their payers. The first stage of development will focus on eligibility verification needs.

Friendly Hills HealthCare Foundation, a physicians' network owned by Caremark and based in La Habra, Calif., has opened The College of Managed Care. The college is intended to educate healthcare providers and administrators on how to deal with the world of managed health care. "Pharmaceutical services management" is one of five areas in which enrollees can receive training.
