If you were among those who attended this year's Medtrade/ NHHCE (New Horizons in Healthcare) show in Atlanta, your feet are probably still sore! But that should have been expected, with the show spanning 650,000 square feet of the Georgia World Congress Center.

The brainchild of SEMCO Productions, Medtrade is billed as the largest trade show for home healthcare products in the United States. It has been growing steadily since its inception in 1979. This year, it has been estimated that more than 20,000 people attended the show, at which 1,900 manufacturers displayed their wares. Among the 250,000 products shown this year were 1,000 new items.

The show's ability to bring so many buyers and sellers together under one roof is a big selling ooint. according to the show's producers. "With the proliferation of medical product shows and professional meetings, time is such a valuable commodity that people need to see as much as they can for their dollar. That's one of the reasons we have so many educational seminars and why we added the CEU component-to make it even more cost-effective and attractive for more people to come to the show to see new products and get continuing education units," said Mark Simmering, general manager for SEMCO Productions.

The show offered buyers and sellers an opportunity not only to discuss business but also to learn more about the health-care industry. Speakers lectured on a variety of timely topics, and attendees could choose from 278 seminars and workshops conducted by industry experts. …
