BRIAN SENIOR is undoubtedly one of the best bridge players in the country, and is constantly in demand as a professional, but you have to develop rather a thick skin to play with him. Forget any notion of bridge being just a game - mistakes or lapses of concentration infuriate him. He pulls faces, makes sarcastic quips and sometimes explodes with rage as though you've done something morally reprehensible.

I've lost count of the times he's scolded me. It's rather strange to be paying someone good money for this kind of abuse but actually it's a sign of how much he cares. Besides, he's extremely funny and always instructive, and his own play is nothing short of dazzling. Here's an example of Brian in action in a teams match:
