The Spectator Classics Cup 2005

After the resounding success of last year's Classics Cup, the competition for 2005 has been expanded.

1. There will he three Rounds, one each term.

2. There will be three Sections per Round. Only one entry, in only one Section, will be allowed per person per Round.

3. There will be prizes every Round for the best entries in each Section, and Cups awarded at the end of the year to the best entries over the year.

WINTER TERM: ROUND ONE

1. Open section

Translate 200 words from any Spectator article into either Latin/Greek verse or Latin/Greek prose. Enclose the English with your entry. A bottle of champagne for the winner.

2. Undergraduate section

Up to 200 words in Latin or Greek (prose only) on the theme 'Tony and Gordon'. Accuracy and wit are expected. The winner will receive a bottle of champagne. Entry to include the address of the University department, to which the prize will be sent.
