Solutions has released a five-volume publication, The Accounting Library, to assist accountants, consultants, and business owners in the identification, analysis, selection, and installation of a microcomputer-based accounting system. The Accounting Library consists of five volumes (Books I through V) containing over 800 pages of system analyis and implementation methodology, forms, and information; and a computer-based expert system.

Book I provides the conceptual foundation of the automation process. Topics covered include understanding the power and complexity of automation, the function and interrelationships of major accounting modules, defining preliminary needs, compiling data, and installing and implementing the system.

Book II describes all of the 900 processing features of the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, fixed assets, job costing, order entry, point of sale, and budgeting. Each feature is described in sufficient detail to enable the user to understand its purpose and under what circumstances it might become an effective decision-making tool.

Book III lists the specifications and features of dozens of accounting products, based upon detailed questionnaires sent to vendors.

Book V presents marketing literature for each of the products and allows each vendor to present his or her case. …
