SLA Video on Electronic Copyright Issues

The Special Libraries Association has released a videotape of its first distance learning program, "Issues Concerning Electronic Copyright." Co-sponsored by LEXIS-NEXIS, this continuing education course was broadcast simultaneously to seven locations in the U.S. and Canada in September.

The two-hour video program features a panel discussion among leading copyright experts. Through video technology, participants were given the opportunity to interact with members of the panel and to exchange thoughts and concerns with their colleagues across the U.S. and Canada.

The program was introduced by Marybeth Peters, register of copyrights at the Library of Congress. Speakers for the panel discussion included Laura Gasaway, director of the law library and professor of law at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; Kelly L. Frey, director of new business development, Copyright Clearance Center Inc., Danvers, Mass.; Mark Traphagen, counsel, Software Publishers Association, Washington, D.C.; and Alicja T. Kawecki, alerting service and copyright administrator, Information Alerting Service, AT&T Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, NJ.

Corporate Legal Times on WESTLAW

In-house corporate legal counsel can now review online Corporate Legal Times. WESTLAW, West's computer-assisted legal research service, has added the Corporate Legal Times database (CORPLT) to its list of nearly 7,000 databases. The Corporate Legal Times database complements and expands the coverage of legal newspapers currently on WESTLAW.
