Swets & Zeitlinger Turns 100, Gains Royal Status

Swets & Zeitlinger Holding, a distributor and service provider of scientific and professional information, has announced that it has reached the dual milestones of 100 years in business and the granting of "royal" status. The company will now operate under the name Royal Swets & Zeitlinger, though the names of its holdings will remain unchanged.

For a Dutch company to receive the designation of "royal," it must be in existence for at least 100 years, have a good reputation, and be well-known nationally. Last year, Swets & Zeitlinger Holding generated US $1 billion in revenues, with a net result of US $23 million.

Jan Franssen, queen of the Netherlands' Royal Commissioner for South Holland, presented a certificate of royal decree to Pieter Rustenburg, chairman of the board of directors for Swets & Zeitlinger Holding, during a ceremony in Amsterdam.
