LCM Examinations * Royal Academy of Music * Schools' Prom

LCM Examinations is pleased to announce that new syllabuses are now available, valid from January 2006. Syllabuses cover introductory, graded, leisure play and diploma examinations in a wide range of subjects, encompassing classical, traditional, jazz, pop and rock genres. Also available are new series of comprehensive graded handbooks for piano and electronic keyboard.

LCM Examinations are unique in the graded examinations world in being awarded by a university, while accreditation by the QCA assures validity and a standard consistent with other approved boards. Grades 6-8 attract UCAS points towards university entrance.

The Royal Academy of Music's events schedule continues at their usual hectic pace. Sir Colin Davis, the Academy's International Chair of Conducting Studies, continues his cycle of Beethoven Symphonies the next of which is on 11 November. Yan Pascal Tortelier conducts the Symphony Orchestra. The Sinfonia performs in Germany and Italy as well as at the Academy, conducted by Simon Wright. Concert Orchestra performs regular lunchtime concerts in the Academy's Duke's Hall under guest conductors, who over the coming season include Christoph von Dohnányi, Trevor Pinnock and Ignat Solzhenitsyn. The Period Instrument Baroque Orchestra, which plays instruments from the Academy's collections, will perform under the direction of Trevor Pinnock and William Christie. …
