At the end of March CGS, which trades as Hoskyns in the UK opened the doors on its first CyberClub^supTM^, a new custom-built facility that aims to help business managers get to grips with the Internet.

The CyberClub represents the first step for companies considering how best to turn the Internet to business advantage. Business people can debunk the many myths that surround the Internet, understand what is really possible and begin to formulate the right approach for their company or organisation.

'The time is ripe to take a serious look at business on the Internet', commented Tony Robinson, managing director of Hoskyns. `The technology has advanced rapidly while the enormous attention given to the Internet means that many executives are haunted by a vague feeling that their organisation ought to be doing something. The reality is that very few companies have so far seized hold of the business opportunity. The Internet represents a cluster of enabling technologies that, deployed purposefully, have the potential to revolutionise the way we do business.'

The development of the CyberClub was prompted by research that Hoskyns carried out in late 1995 to assess the attitudes of UK captains of industry to business and the Internet. This took the form of indepth qualitative interviews with 25 senior managers at companies within the Hoskyns customer base.

The research discovered a high level of awareness of and interest in the Internet. With only one exception, those interviewed expect the Internet to become very important to their business within the space of two years. …
