After installing Profound, I strongly suggest exploring its Adobe Acrobat Viewer. It is worthwhile to become a navigational whiz with the Viewer to increase the speed with which you can move around within a document, maximize your ability to view documents, print selectively, and have more fun. (One of the things that attracts me to Profound is the capacity to play with the information. After years of watching words fly by on the screen in ASCII, it is really fun to play with pictures!)

When you select documents in Profound, they are saved as Adobe PDF files or as text files. If they are Adobe PDF image files, here's how you view and manipulate them:

1) Once document downloading begins, the bottom of your screen registers the status of the downloading process. It may take several minutes for a large document to download completely (for example, eight pages of text and graphics in NewsNow took almost five and a half minutes), but the image of the first page appears on the screen in 10 or 15 seconds.

2) As soon as the first page appears, the Adobe Acrobat Viewer toolbar is activated, providing you with immediate access to a range of navigational, viewing, search, and display "power" tools. …
