Bob Barker Company, Inc., the North Carolina-based detention supplier, has recently announced that effective September 17, 2001, founder and company namesake Bob Barker handed over the presidential reins to daughter Nancy Barker Johns.

"We know that consistency is important to our customers," says Barker, "and they can still expect to get what they've always received from us - great product selection, reliable delivery, and top-quality customer service."

Bob Barker, who will stay actively involved with the business as CEO and Chairman of the Board, stresses the confidence he has in the new president. "Nancy started sweeping floors and washing windows for the company when she was 8. She literally 'grew up' with this business." Today, Nancy Barker Johns, who holds an MBA from Duke University, possesses substantial experience in every aspect of the operations and management of the successful company.

A native of Cherryville, NC, Bob Barker's first career move after college took him into journalism as the owner and editor of a weekly newspaper. Looking for greater opportunity to exercise his creative abilities and salesmanship, Barker sold the newspaper in 1971 and started Bob Barker Company the next year in a 12" x 12" room in the back of a barbershop in Apex, NC. …
