The celebrated Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, announced their schedule for the 2006 show season, 1 December. Following winter training, the team will begin its 60th season at Naval Air Facility El Centro, California, 11 March 2006. The season will conclude, 11 November, at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida.

The team's 60th anniversary marks six continuous decades of airshow appearances which began shortly after the end of WWII as a means of publicizing Naval Aviation's role in the postwar era. Commencing their demonstrations with the piston-engined F6F Hellcat fighters of WWII fame, The "Blues" next flew F8F Bearcat fighters before switching to jet-powered aircraft. In the course of their 60- year history the Navy has found the Blue Angels to be a very positive incentive for Naval recruiting as well as a showcase for aerobatic skills.

The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 70 demonstrations at 36 air show sites throughout the United States, Canada and the Netherlands during the 2006 season.

"The Blues are fired up and ready for an exhilarating 60th anniversary show season," said Cmdr. Steve Foley, Blue Angels flight leader and commanding officer. "While we wanted to perform at every air show site, we have a limited number of available performance dates each season," Foley added. "Every venue that requested to host the Blue Angels received the Navy's utmost consideration."

Although the following dates have been approved, they are subject to change. For the most updated schedule information, log on to The 2006 Blue Angels are scheduled to perform at the following locations:
