Eurimages to Honour Female Directors with Dedicated Prize

Eurimages, the Council of Europe co-production fund, has announced the launch of a Best Female Director Prize, worth $33,000 (euro30,000), to be made at an international film festival.

The move is in addition to a raftof measures adopted by the Board of Management of the Strasbourg-based Fund to promote a more balanced representation of women and men in the European film industry, both on and offscreen.

Other measures will include quarterly masterclasses, to bring experienced filmmakers from different countries to present their work to new audiences throughout Europe, acting as role models. These events will coincide with the Eurimages quarterly Board of Management meetings and are open to a wider public.
