New York City Ballet soloist Unity Phelan has a classically gorgeous physique and an uninhibited energy onstage. And choreographers have taken notice: Phelan danced principal roles in Lauren Lovette's For Clara and Christopher Wheeldon's American Rhapsody, both of which premiered last year. The Princeton, NJ, native trained at Princeton Ballet School before enrolling at the School of American Ballet in 2009. She joined NYCB as an apprentice in 2012 and was promoted to soloist this year.
