Maya Rudolph Joins STXfilms’ 'The Happytime Murders'

Brian Henson to direct human-puppet comedy.

Maya Rudolph is reuniting with her Bridesmaids castmate Melissa McCarthy on STXfilms’ The Happytime Murders.

The comedy takes place in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans co-exist. Two detectives - one from each species - must work together to solve the mystery of who is slaying the puppet cast on the eponymous show.

Brian Henson directs from a screenplay by Todd Berger, Dee Robertson, Erich and John Hoeber, and McCarthy.

Henson Alternative, On the Day Productions, and STXfilms are producing The Happytime Murders, and McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Henson and Jeffrey Hayes serve as producers. Lisa Henson, Dee Robertson, and John W. Hyde are on board as executive producers.

Rudolph and McCarthy starred together in Bridesmaids and will next be seen together in the New Line comedy Life Of The Party, which Warner Bros has set for a May 11, 2018 release. …
