Earth's seasons vary geographically. In North America, winter arrives in December and begins to pack its bags in February. In South America, winter's presence is noted in June, July, and August. Poets refer to "winter light" marking shorter days, whose light, whether it is dawn or day, is less intense. Winter is an opportune time to read and reflect on time past- and to prepare for spring, a season that ushers in new growth.
