I was showing some childhood photos of myself to my students. One photo showed my brother and me with our grandmother and her dog.

"What kind of dog is that?" a third grader asked.

"It's a miniature toy poodle," I replied.

"Wait, so is it real or a toy?" she asked, quite perplexed.

I am an Early Childhood teacher. One day, I was having a conversation with a 4-year-old, when she looked at me intently and said, "Ms. Mari, you are cracked."

"Cracked?" I asked.

"Yes," she said, "you have cracks in your forehead like my grandma."

"Oh," I replied, "that is because I am old."

She smiled and said happily, "Well, I am new."
