CIPFA tells NI to sort out its governance

The next Northern Ireland administration must address failures in the governance of the NI assembly, CIPFA has said. Outgoing ministers should work with their replacements to set strategic outcomes for public service bodies, it said just before the March elections took place. The new executive "must reassert responsible and ethical governance principles", and public service entities will need to be reviewed and monitored to ensure these have been adopted.


Wales may pool pension pots

Eight pension funds in Wales with a total of £15bn in assets are likely to pool their investments by next April. Fund administrators now have to sign an inter-authority agreement setting out the governance arrangements, a report published by Flintshire Council said. "It will result in consolidation, with a smaller number of fund managers needed to meet the total requirements of all the individual strategies, therefore reducing costs," it said. …
