Many things make shooting in EU member Estonia an attractive proposition: Tallinn's well-preserved, medieval Old Town; the diverse natural surroundings, including 2,222 islands; the country's early adoption of the digital revolution (it's the home of Skype); and the lower costs.

Additional perks include Film Estonia 30% cash rebate for foreign companies shooting in the country, several regional film funds and a plethora of talented, multi-lingual technicians and flexible, solution-oriented crews.

But perhaps the biggest reason to shoot in the Baltic country is set to open in late 2018 or early 2019: Tallinn Film Wonderland (TFW).

Designed by the hot young Estonian architectural firm KUU, TFW will comprise a studio complex with three soundstages built on a peninsula 10 minutes from the center of Tallinn and 15 minutes from the airport. The complex - the biggest in the Baltic states - will make it possible for productions to film in studio, on the beach, in the medieval old town and in old industrial buildings all with in a 24-hour period if desired. …
