What is National Catholic Schools Week?

Sponsored by NCEA, CSW is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States.

Schools typically observe the week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to Church, local communities and the nation.

Who should participate in National Catholic Schools Week?

Everyone! CSW is a time for everyone in your Catholic school community to join together in celebration of faith, education and service. There are daily themes to celebrate parish, community, students, nation, vocations, faculty, staff, volunteers and families, making it easy to incorporate everyone into your week's events. In addition, CSW is a celebration week for all levels of Catholic education: early, elementary, secondary, higher education and religious education.

Can we celebrate National Catholic Schools Week at another time?

The official national celebration week occurs in January; however, the spirit of CSW can be incorporated into all your year-round marketing efforts. At NCEA, we understand that for many, January brings inclement weather and, for some, it is past the formal admissions application period. Some dioceses have opted to incorporate the CSW theme into two weeks of the year: one in the fall for prospective families to discover Catholic schools and another in the winter during the official national week for all communit)/ members to celebrate Catholic schools.

While many schools opt to use CSW as a time to welcome prospective families for open houses, this may not work on your calendar - and that is okay! …
