Berlin Unveils First Wave of Panorama Titles with Timur Bekmambetov, Kiyoshi Kurosawa

11 titles revealed from Berlin sidebar.

The first 11 titles from the 2018 Berlin Film Festival (Feb 15-25) Panorama programme have been revealed. Scroll down for the full line-up.

The selection is the first from new section head Paz Lázaro, who curated the titles with Michael Stütz and Andreas Struck.

Films selected include a new project from Timur Bekmambetov, the Russian-Kazakh director whose credits include Night Watch and Ben-Hur. He will be world premiering his US-UK-Cyprus co-production Profile, about a British journalist who goes undercover to infiltrate the digital channels of the so-called Isis terrorist group.

Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa will be screening his feature Foreboding (Yocho), a sci-fi about aliens who take control over human emotions.

The selection also features four productions from Latin America: Argentinian filmmaker Sebastián Schjaer’s feature debut The Omission (La Omision), Santiago Loza’s Malambo, The Good Man (Malambo, El Hombre Bueno) which is also from Argentina, Brazilian documentary Ex Shaman (Ex-Pajé) from Luiz Bolognesi, and Kiko Goifman and Claudia Priscilla’s Tranny Fag (Bix Travesty), which is also from Brazil. …
