UNC Signs Preservation Agreement

The University of North CarolinaChapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill) Libraries signed an agreement with the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) to become a Preservation Steward library. The UNC-Chapel Hill Libraries will preserve print copies of Senate and joint congressional hearings from 1995 through 2010.

GPO Releases Congressional Debates

The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) partnered with the Library of Congress (LC) to release the digital version of the bound Congressional Record from 1921 to 1930. It covers the debates and proceedings of the 67th through the 71st Congresses. Topics discussed include Prohibition, the Immigration Act of 1924, and the Stock Market Crash of 1929.

Springer Introduces New Solution

Springer Nature launched Springer Nature Experiments, a free solution that helps researchers in the life sciences access relevant protocols and methods to support their projects. It has a single platform with artificial intelligence (AI) and text-mining technologies. Users can evaluate and compare protocols before accessing the full-text.

OCLC Expands Usability of CONTENTdm

OCLC now supports IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) Image and Presentation APIs in its CONTENTdm digital collection management software. This will make it possible to present image metadata and navigate through complex digital objects. Incorporating IIIF will help institutions collaborate, and CONTENTdm users have access to open source tools that use IIIF specifications.
