MONTESSORI SCHOOL OF DENVER, DENVER, CO To commemorate Day of the Dead, the school set up an altar in honor of Dr. Maria Montessori. Included were a plate of pasta, coffee, water, flowers, and a photo of Montessori. In their Spanish classes, students learned about the origins and traditions of this celebration and created a window display with drawings of Catrinas (female skeletons) and sugar skulls (made, untraditionally, with marshmallows). Students had their faces painted with Day of the Dead motifs and sang songs in Spanish. (AMS-Accredited School)
