'Avengers: Infinity War' on Target to Hit $1Bn Worldwide by Weekend

Marvel Studios’ latest tentpole smash Avengers: Infinity War looks likely to cross $1bn worldwide by Saturday if not before, as it surged to $857.3m.

The superhero mash-up added $48.9m on Wednesday (May 2) to reach $534.7m from international markets and $322.6m from North America through Disney’s distribution pipeline.

The UK has restored its status as lead market after a brief reign by South Korea, and stands at $51.3m. South Korea has amassed $50.9m, followed by Mexico on $38.3m, Brazil on $31.6m, India $28.3m, Australia $26.7m, France $25.3m, Germany $22.1m, Indonesia $17m, and Philippines $16.8m.

Avengers: Infinity War stands at $15.5m in Italy, $14.8m in Japan, $13.8m in Spain, $13.4m in Thailand, $13.1m in Taiwan, $12.2m in Hong Kong, and $11.7m in Malaysia.

On Wednesday the tentpole overtook the final global grosses of Thor: Ragnarok ($854m), and Spider-Man ($822m)
