Have a candid conversation with the person. Sometimes people don't realize how their actions affect others. Research shows that most of us lack self-awareness, especially at work. Describe the problematic behavior and its impact on you.

Raise your own game, and keep your ego in check. The more you can maintain your focus on team goals, the less likely you are to become blinded by win/lose thinking with this toxic peer. Be a role model for how you want the team to act.
