Biggest change in the business?

What's really struck me, besides the renaissance of television, is the social media explosion. We get the sense of audience's reactions as soon as the Palais doors open. Sometimes the Croisette is an echo chamber; with social media, you are immediately keyed into what people are thinking. You get a real gut reaction from audiences the minute the film ends and any direct contact with audiences is a good thing.

Festival routine?

I always enjoyed the really early press screening: the town is still empty, they've just finished washing the streets down. …
