IF YOU'VE BEEN TO PALM SPRINGS in the past four years, you've likely spotted the work of Jaime Kowal. The photographer is one of the creative forces behind the desert town's latest design renaissance-having launched, nurtured, and sold a clutch of stylish businesses ranging from a coffee shop and tiki bar to two small-scale boutique lodgings. (One of them, The Amado, even made an appearance on the cover of this magazine.)

Just as personality-rich is Kowal's lowslung 19S9 home by Palm Springs developer Jack Meiselman. Inside, bold patterns juxtapose a palette of faded blush and chalky blue tones that harken back to the desert landscape.
