I'd Hite to officially dispel a pernicious myth about the college dance scene. Repeat after me: College is not for "also-rans." It's not a place for dancers who can't quite hack it. It's not a fallback option. It's not a plan B. In fact, some of the most talented dancers around are opting to go to college instead of diving right into the pro dance world. Our cover stars are cases in point. Alyssa Allen, Simrin Player, and Jake Tribus, students at the University of Southern California's new Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, are standout dancers who've already worked professionally-and could easily have gone right on doing so, without a degree. But all three chose the college route, because the opportunities it offered were just that tantalizing.
