Besides their size and weight (over seven pounds each), these two spectacular books of nature imagery share the same organizational plan. Art Wolfe's survey of trees is arranged by continent-baobab trees in Africa, banyans in Asia, olives in Europe, eucalyptus in Australia, etc. The Pickfords, in search of untrammeled outback, chose similarly (with the addition of treeless Antarctica): The Namibian Deserts in Africa, the Tibetan plateau in Asia, Svalbard in the European Arctic, and the Kimberley Desert in Australia. …
