Hello, my name is Joseph E. Dempsey. I began my corrections career in 1988 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. I am currently responsible for Budget, Personnel, and Training for our Custody Division. I am a Certified Jail Manager (CJM) and a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy and the Jail Executive Development Program.

* I decided to enter the field of corrections and make it my career because... I wanted a career that would continually challenge me and allow me to truly make a difference.

* The most unusual job I've ever had was. keeping fans off the field at Dodger Stadium while dodging foul balls.

* I felt it was important to be a member of AJA and serve on the Board and Commission because. I felt that I could help my agency and myself become the best we possibly can, and also to assist others in the field.
