Opener Tom Jones maintained his magnificent early-season form when he helped defending Premier Division champions Warkworth to a 79-run victory over Corbridge.

Jones began the season with an unbeaten 54 at Stocksfield.

And after missing the second match against Bomarsund he showed the short break had done him no harm by carrying his bat once again on Saturday for a mammoth 128.

If he gets a duck in his next match, he will be averaging 182!

Not surprisingly Warkworth are unbeaten and showing every sign of mounting a strong defence of their title.

But the dark horses this season could well be Cowgate, who are also on an unbeaten run.

Bomarsund were Cowgate's first victims, followed by last season's runners-up Chopwell.

The latest side to feel the strength of Cowgate's slightly new-look line-up was Stobswood, who lost by a massive 213 runs.

Batting first, Cowgate rattled up 325-4 thanks to 110 from Herbert, 88 by Balasundarum and a Malik 50 while Stobswood could only score 112-8 in reply. …
