'I Owe It All to Mum's Scones'

When a Teesside mum decided to go into business the first thing she wanted was the recipe for her mum's scones.

Armed with the vital recipe Joanne Fleming set about creating menus for her new venture - the cafe at Newham Grange Leisure Farm, on the outskirts of Middlesbrough.

It had been closed for two years, due mainly to the foot and mouth outbreak, and re-opened last year for a short time.

But Joanne had heard that the business would soon be on the market so she did some homework and found that the clientele was in the older bracket.

"That's where mum's recipe came in," she says. "Older people like that sort of thing."

Once she had everything mapped out then she turned to InBiz for help on business skills and getting started.
