Vipers defence-man Rob Wilson will take a coaching role in the coming British National League season.

The GB international signed a long-term deal with Newcastle when he joined from Manchester Storm midway through last season.

And with general manager Alex Dampier keen to spend more time with his family in Nottingham, Wilson has taken on extra responsibilities for the 2003/04 season.

Wilson, the only player currently signed up by the Vipers for next season, worked with both coach Clyde Tuyl and Dampier while a Sheffield Steeler.

"As an organisation we are very excited about the return of Rob," said Tuyl.

"He was a major factor in the club winning our first piece of silverware. I am looking forward to working with Rob - Alex and I worked with him during our time with the Sheffield Steelers and he has a great deal of experience within the game.

"The organisation is looking forward to the new season and the challenge of defending our Findus Cup title. …
