PATRICK VIEIRA insists that winning the FA Cup is crucial to Arsenal's continuing development as a side.

The Frenchman, who misses the FA Cup Final because of a knee injury, said: "We are at a crucial stage in Arsenal's development. The pattern has been that we win the Double, then we win nothing, we win the Double and . . . do we win nothing? No, we need to win and win and win.

"The job that Arsene Wenger started here will not be finished until Arsenal win the double Double, the European Cup and sit right at the top of world football with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and the rest.

"We can dominate English football and I truly believe this Arsenal team can win the title year after year after year. The main part of the team is still young enough to do that. There is me, Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Freddie Ljungberg, Sylvain Wiltord, Gilberto Silva, Edu - all in the right age group."

David Seaman, who will captain the side tomorrow against Southampton in the absence of Vieira, was today linked with a move to Manchester City, but Wenger dismissed talk that his Arsenal future had been decided. …
