Button Overjoyed at His Fourth-Place Finish

Jenson Button equalled his best Formula One finish with fourth place in yesterday's Austrian Grand Prix at the A1-Ring, then declared: "That was fantastic."

The 23-year-old Briton had promised himself a night of celebration had he grabbed his maiden podium, but was still delighted with matching his result in Malaysia last year as he maintained his promising start to the season with his BAR-Honda team. He said: "I had a great race, I really enjoyed it. This was a genuine racing fourth, we didn't get it because other cars dropped out.

"This is just what the team needed and deserved. We've earned our result, it wasn't a fluke.

"I've had a great weekend all round. I think we've shown how quick we are all the way through practice. It was nice to be able to challenge the front-runners, which is what we are capable of.

"We have to maintain this momentum now. We must do this consistently."

Button admitted he was hoping the scrap for second in the final stages of the race between McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello could have got him on the podium. …
