Warkworth, aiming to make it a hat-trick of championship wins in the Three Counties Northumberland League joloring.dotcom Premier Division will not have South African Gerry Coetze after all.

Skipper Doug Potts explained: "We had signed Gerry but apparently he is not being allowed to come over because he had played in a six-a-side competition in Hong Kong where there were SARS. He has let us know that this is the reason why he is staying at home and there is nothing we can do about it, although obviously I am very disappointed."

Today, Warkworth visit Bedlington with a 100 per cent record from games completed and Potts is happy to stay with the same side which defeated second-top Cowgate last weekend.

Chris Pearson is unavailable but Bedlington have Brian Fisher and Derek Shepherd resuming.

Chopwell host Corbridge and both sides show numerous changes. David Anderson, Graham Fellowes and Anthony Hornby line-up for Chopwell with Trevor Tyres, Stephen Brown and Adam Tams moving into the Second XI.

Corbridge include Australian Scott Sherry, who is here on holiday. He is a friend of Dan Catterson, another Aussie playing for Corbridge, who are pleased that John Davison, Dean Robinson and Shaun Fenwick can play.

In Division A, the leaders Riverdale Spitfires visit Northern Social with Tom Watkins home from Oxford University to open the attack. Chris Welton's inclusion will make the batting stronger.

Blagdon Park have enjoyed a good baptism following their transfer from the Alnwick and District League. They host New Hartley just four points adrift of the leaders and although Marcus Tregonning is ruled out, Steve Oxley and Richard Wearmouth resume.

The leadership of the Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League First Division could change hands today since no fewer than seven sides are within striking distance of Lanchester.

The leaders line up against one of their rivals, Sacriston, and a closely fought game is anticipated. …
