Matthew Williamson

Where do you live and why?

Primrose Hill. It's ten minutes from my studio and it somehow feels like I am in the country. Plus, I can walk home. I prefer to separate my home and working life.

How long have you lived there?

Four years.

What advice would you give to a tourist?

Bring an umbrella and avoid Leicester Square like the plague.

Who is in your secret address book?

This one's pretty hard, and if I tell you it won't be a secret, will it? One of my favourite spots is the Secret Garden, tucked away in the centre of Regent's Park. It's a beautiful oasis of calm.

Harvey Nicks or Selfridges?

What do you miss most when you're out of London?

Ambling around the parks. Also, the familiarity of having everything on my doorstep and the sense of routine.

What are your extravagances?

What would you do if you were Mayor for the day?

I would turn every Monday into a bank holiday.

A two-day weekend is far too short.

What is your life philosophy?

You get out of life what you put in.

What are your favourite shops?

There are loads. I tend to shop all over the place.

Story in the East End has an amazingly eclectic mix of clothing, jewellery and textiles and Tann Rokka in Primrose Hill offers wonderful Middle Eastern-style accessories.

How do you get around town?

I often walk or take a cab, but because my parents now work with me, they have become something of a local courier service. It's like the school bus as Dad drops me and my business partner off.

Do you have a favourite pub?

I'm not really a pub person, but I do like House on Rosslyn Hill in Hampstead and the bar tucked at the back of Les Trois Garcons in the East End. …
