Jacksonville resident Keith Segars, who races on the ARCA Series, is among the candidates to replace Mike Skinner in the Morgan-McClure Motorsports No. 4 Kodak Pontiac.

Segars was en route to Talladega Superspeedway yesterday for two days of testing the race set-up Morgan-McClure plans to use for next week's Pepsi 400.

According to Segars, he will meet with team owner Larry McClure while at Talladega.

The 40-year-old has never started a Busch or a Winston Cup race in his career, but he drives the No. 4 Monte Carlo on the ARCA RE/MAX circuit for the Morgan-McClure team. He has worked for the team for three years on research and design projects and car testing.

The team called Segars about the test session after Skinner was released last week.

"[McClure] is tired of going through recycled people," Segars said. "They're looking for someone with new blood.

"I'm familiar with Morgan-McClure and familiar with the team and the equipment. …
