Teenage Girl Passenger Dies in 4x4 Joyriding Accident

THE FATHER of a 15-year-old joyrider who crashed a Mercedes, killing her teenage friend, has spoken of his devastation.

The accident happened at 9.45pm on Saturday when Zoe Horne lost control of the ML 4x4 less than a mile from her home in the village of Pebmarsh, near Halstead, in Essex.

The car veered off a country road and collided with a tree.

The teenage driver escaped with minor injuries but her passenger, a 15-year-old girl from Chelmsford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last night Zoe's father, James Horne, said: "It is the most hideous and ghastly thing that has ever happened.

"We have been dealing with this for 24 hours and it has been a devastating thing. I really can't make any other comment. It was a tragic accident and we really feel for the deceased and her family."

The car left the road at a slight right-hand bend and careered into a tree.

No other vehicle was involved. …
