DERBYSHIRE cricketer Steve Selwood has returned to his roots to lead Finchley's charge into the last 16 of club cricket's premier knockout tournament.

The 23-year-old lefthander, currently out of favour with his county, took the honours as the club he joined as a 10-year-old raced to a 34-run victory over Dulwich in the third round of the [pounds sterling]12,000 Evening Standard Challenge Trophy, the final of which takes place at The Oval.

All-rounder Matt Evans contributed 76 not out followed by four wickets for 34 as the Hertfordshire side set up a fourth-round clash with Beckenham.

National Knockout Cup holders Saffron Walden were the other big casualties, suffering a nine-wicket hammering from Hampstead, who raced to 245 for one with centuries from Gary Headley (118) and captain Mark Harvey (103 not out). …
