Get set to celebrate - Robin Hood is coming to the region. And he is being played by one of our young reviewers, Kyle Clarkson. Today he tells us all about it

Fancy a picnic in the grounds of luxurious Lumley Castle this weekend? And a summer panto to boot?

It's all possible, thanks to Celebrate II, which is set to take over Chester-le-Street this weekend.

For the second year, schoolchildren, shop owners and the community are joining forces for a day of events culminating in a performance of an original musical on Saturday on the lawn at Lumley Castle.

Created by local musician George Hastings in conjunction with former Dr Who Colin Baker, the show is a summer pantomime based on the legend of Robin Hood - and incorporating the history of Chester-le-Street.

Town traders will be hosting a day of events and around 2,000 people will be picnicking at Lumley to see the production.

Visible Ink Productions is producing this event as a sequel to last year's Celebrate, which was a huge success. …
