Jobs boost:

Two strands of good news emerged on Teesside's jobs front. Office World is opening its 56th UK superstore at Teesside Retail Park, creating 20 jobs. And Impetus Waste Management, part of the Scott Bros Group, of Thornaby, has acquired ICI's waste management business, which includes the Teesport waste disposal site, near Wilton, securing 100 jobs. The deal could lead to more jobs and pounds 1m investment.

Offices scheme:

The start of a new 11 block pounds 5m-plus offices scheme in Stockton, providing work space for 500 jobs, is boosting the birth of an even bigger scheme. Mandale Properties which is developing Falcon Court at Preston Farm, has bought 10 neighbouring acres.

Prime target:

A bid is being made to bring scores of Government jobs to the Tees Valley. Alistair Arkley, left, chairman of the Tees Valley Partnership, believes Darlington should be a prime target in a study being carried out into the possibility of moving Government jobs from the South-east and into the regions. …
