For James, the Law Is a Full-Time Way of Life

Never take your work home is a maxim which seems to hold no truck with solicitor James Thompson.

The 31-year-old, who works at Eversheds' Newcastle office, is so dedicated to the law that he acts as a special constable in his spare time.

And in recognition of the service he has given, Mr Thompson has received one of the National Special Constable Awards 2003.

Also known as the Ferrers Trophy, the awards from the Home Office acknowledge successful long-running initiatives and examples of outstanding performance.

Mr Taylor was awarded the accolade for boosting the role of special constables within the Newcastle East area command of Northumbria Police.

Chris Hugill, managing partner of Eversheds' Newcastle office, said: "We are delighted that James has won this award. My own father was a special constable, so I understand and appreciate the hard work and dedication that James has given so magnanimously to the community. He is a real asset to us all. …
