POLICE BRIEFING; Man with Rifle Threatens to Shoot over Parking Spat

A 44-year-old man was arrested at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of North Main Street and charged with aggravated assault.

Witnesses told police the man used a rifle to threaten a 35-year-old man when he parked his truck behind the suspect's vehicle at the Clara White Mission, 613 W. Ashley St. The victim said the man demanded he move his truck because he had a dog inside. The victim said he refused and the suspect removed a .22-caliber rifle from under his car seat and told him he was going to have to shoot him. The victim said he drove to a nearby gas station and called police. The victim said the gunman followed him to the gas station.

Police said the man told them he was mad because the victim had a large dog in his truck. The suspect said he told the victim to move several times and when he refused, he told him he would shoot him, according to a police report.
